WWE: The Bash (28th June 09)
The only reference to the old WCW or NWA days that the WWE used for a pay per view was "The Great American Bash" which has been shortened to "The Bash". The full card for tonight is as follows:
World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk vs. Jeff Hardy- WWE Champion Randy Orton vs. Triple H
- ECW Championship Scramble Match
- Women's Champion Melina vs. Michelle McCool
- Intercontinental Champion Chris Jericho vs. Rey Mysterio
- The Great Khali vs. Dolph Ziggler
- John Cena vs. The Miz
- Unified Tag Team Champions Carlito & Primo vs. Cody Rhodes & Ted DiBiase
The only real thing that stands out for me is that CM Punk and Jeff Hardy are in the main event.I don't know about you but I'm sick of Randy Orton and Triple H so I hope they put the Smackdown match on last.
I hate to be negative but I can see this pay per view doing one of the smallest numbers of the year. It will be interesting to see the numbers at the end of the year. I don't think they helped with the Donald Trump air time over the last few weeks.
Anyway, I think I will either download "The Bash" or find a stream somewhere if I am awake tonight, if it is only for a few matches. Feel free to discuss "The Bash", WWE's pay per view numbers, or the 1989 Great American Bash (a little known classic) here.

They also changed No Mercy to “Hell in a Cell” and Cyber Sunday to “Annihilation”.
Im glad they are giving guys like Ziggler a spot on PPV, but why is it against Khali? I understand that they are feuding but….
I also appreciate that they are busting out an old stip like 3 Stages of Hell, but the “stages of hell” for this one are kinda stupid.
I think I heard that the Khali/Ziggler match would be a DQ match. If so then Ziggler will win.
The Bash has been entertaining so far, Dreamer retained the ECW-title, Rey won back the IC-title, Ziggler defeated Khali by interference from a returning Kane and…..
Edge and Jericho are the New Tag Team Champions!
John Weiner v The Poser Miz?
I hope they use Kane as a springboard for an Undertaker return. I also hope they work a storyline where Kane has rediscovered his old dominant self, instead of jobbing.
Once again a little off topic but whats the general stance on the Confederations Cup final. Personally I feel the US were impressive again, leading Brazil for 84 minutes is an achievement.
If the US had one Latino type of player in there team they would of won the cup as Dempsy and Donovan are strikers. They need someone to tear down the defense and create chances in the match and Latino players are great at that.
never mind all that, when is FIFA going to get with it and use instant replay in the goal. In the FA Cup Final Chelsea got screwed and yesterday so did Brazil. Both times the ball clearly crossed the line and yet the ref missed it and a clear goal was waved away. This isn’t 1930, and blatant mistakes like this can’t be allowed to keep happening, especially when the technology is there ti prevent it.
Below average PPV.
ECW Scramble match = bad. 3/10
Y2J vs Rey = Match of the year candidate 8.75/10
Khali/Ziggler = Meh. 3/10
Tag team match = 5/10
Diva match = 4.5/10. None of them are over
Cena vs Miz = 4/10. Miz gets squashed in 10 min. BOO….and I dont like Miz. I am just hoping for newer stars.
CM Punk vs Hardy – 6/10. Nice finish. CM Punk smirked on the ramp.
HHH vs Orton = 6.5/10. I am done with these guys. The 1st match was crap. The 2nd match lasted about 3 minutes total. The final match had interferrence. What a waist. Feud lives on. boring too.
Also, there were “We want Christian”, “EDGE! EDGE! EDGE!”, and “Edge and Christian” chants peppered all over the tag match.
Total waste of a cool match stipulation that is rarely used. They could have easily just made it a stretcher match.
And I agree with JSN, Mysterio/Jericho is a MOTYC.
Once again Mysterio-Jericho stole the show, this feud is what Rey-Eddie should have been, by keeping the feud simple and allowing them to wrestle in competetive matches without stupid gimmicks or interference to ruin it, Rey and Y2J are putting on the best matches that I’ve seen all year. Everytime they top it with a more creative match and finish, great job from both of them.
Cena-Miz was an anticlimax, it was the only feud that had me interested in Raw and they wasted it with a squash that made Miz look pathetic. The way Cena wiped his feet at the end was even more damaging than the match, any chance that the Miz had of being a breakout star just went out the window with that move.
Orton-HHH was another poor match, I’m an Orton fan but all of his matches with HHH (aside from their last man standing matches) have been boring and this feud needs to die a death. Cheap ending and HHH post match burial made Orton look pathetic, plus it looks like Ted is turning face in time for the Marine 2 when he’s not had the chance to build a following because him and Cody are constantly buried. They couldn’t even win the tag belts. Right now Orton-DiBiase would be a failure, it looks like a half arsed version of HHH-Batista with a less credible challenger and stable.
The Punk-Hardy feud has me interested, looks like Punk is going to turn heel after all but it will be a slow burn a la Y2J-HBK last year. Hopefully Punk will become a credible heel by SS after teasing the audience before then, having Punk drive Hardy out of the WWE would take him to the next level.
David took the words out of my mouth. cena owned miz….in a bad way
