WWE: Raw (1st June ‘09)
Raw tonight only has one match advertised so far. That is Smackdowns Kofi Kingston vs MVP for the United States Championship.
Coming off their worst rating of the year from last week (3.2), Raw has sucked lately. Just look at the recent Raw live discussions for the general PWB opinion on the flagship show.
Triple H has wrestled for the last three weeks on the houseshow circuit, but I really don't think that in 2009, Triple H is the solution to Raws problems. For me, they need a few breakout stars. They need a new Rock or a new Stone Cold.
Feel free to discuss Raw here, or how they could drag Raw out of the rut that they are in, in terms of both entertainment value and the ratings.

They need heels, bad ass heels. Ted and Cody aint the answer. To many faces spoil the broth and this is exactly what is happening on Raw. The top heel, Orton, gets cheered most weeks while the supposed to be top face gets booed…..Turn Cena heel! It doesnt matter if we love him or hate him, we would all tune in for it.
I doubt these are long term solutions but bringing in more faces like Kofi, is just further hurting Raw.
Mr Kennedy shoots at the WWE without saying a word……

RAW has anything but too many faces.
MVP, Cena, and Batista… thats it…..
Kennedy is gone. HHH or Batista may be turning heel soon. You got Big Show, Miz, Regal, Orton, Legacy(even though they dont speech…they need to up their game), Vicki
, Chavo
, and Matt Hardy.
Faces… MVP, Cena, Batista
then Kofi and Santino. Thats pretty much it. The Colons, Hornswoggle, Goldust, aand Kendrick arent doing a damn thing.
Kofi is on SD, he aint meant to be on Raw. When HBK and HHH get back that main event picture is going to look awful. Maybe there are heels, but they all suck….Big Show, Matt Hardy and Regal are awful in thier current roles. The mid card has heels but the main event has one…Orton and he is cheered most weeks. The best heels are on SD and thats obvious. We have been asking for a Cena heel turn for years, they need to do it. I doubt Batista can cut being heel on his own.
The best mid card heel they have is The Miz and he aint ever gona get to the top of the card.
what was the point of the Batista squash? Seriously? What did that accomplish?
Why did Matt Hardy whisper to Vicky? Couldnt he just say “Hey, cut off the camera.” instead?
Best Raw in weeks, maybe months
Anyone happen to watch Conan’s first Tonight Show? Pearl Jam was fantastic, glad to hear some new material.
bad/boring raw
the kofi/mvp match was good…..looking forward to the ppv fatal 4 way too!
best raw in weeks maybe, but that’s not saying much. Overall I’d give it a 5. It.s incredible how the #1 heel and champion can get his ass handed to him by a 65 year old. Seriously, how is that kind of writing helping anyone? Plain stupid writing.
i didnt watch raw and by the look of it i didnt miss much i’ll watch impact! Thursday and know it will be better then raw
flair was awful. any thoughts in the back of my mind saying he might still have it are gone. i only caught a few bits and peices of the show aside from their street fight.
i saw the second half of Conan, awesome hearing new pearl jam.
I thought Raw was pretty good this week, its far from its best, but the last few weeks have been so bad it made this weeks show look like a Wrestkemania.
They need to keep non-wrestlers out of the actual matches, especially the main events. Flair, the McMahons, Jerry Lawler, nostalgia aside they just shouldn’t be in the ring. There is plenty of room for Flair as a mentor, helping push younger superstars. Challenging legit superstars, if you don’t get your butt kicked it’s not believable in the slightest.
Hey do you guys think that HBK’s summer return will be the last hurrah run towards a Wrestlemania retirement??
no. hbk will be around a while yet
First Raw I’ve seen in ages, MVP-Kofi was an awesome match and saved the show, for a TV match that will take some beating and was a pleasure to watch. I’m glad Kofi won but I’m hopeful that MVP will be given the chance to shine as a main eventer sooner rather than later.
The Batista-Cody squash was pathetic and it was embarrasing to watch Flair beat up Orton, it was piss poor writing that is preventing Legacy from being a great stable. Flair proved that he has no business wrestling and cutting promos, all he did was yell down the mike for 5 minutes then chop Orton at the end of the show until his chest bled.
It’s a shame that Hardy broke his hand because he has the potential to be a great heel but currently his offense is limited and promos have never been his best asset. Hopefully he won’t be buried too badly before he recovers as his current role in the Vicki-Santino feud isn’t doing him any favours.
i think they’re definately going to build to mvp vs orton soon times. the world title is the next step and i think they want to give it to him.
Anybody notice a trainer come to Orton and clean off the blood from his back while Legacy were beating Flair in the cage? Just like at WM with Matt Hardy.
So I’m thinking they could try and put on athletic matches that show off the talent, have a few minor feuds between faces as in…professional rivalry…maybe cut a lot of the fake looking behind-the-scenes crap, stop with all the scripted madness…why does Kane need to talk? Bring in some charismatic managers to talk for some of the amazing talent they have…hmmm..oh wait, all of you already know this. You can’t just hope another Rock or Austin will come along, those guys were unbelievable talents on the mic, and regardless of what people say, in the ring. Vince isn’t going to change anything either, why should he? He’s still outperforming his “competition” by miles and will remain in business with the status quo. It’s going to take TNA getting their heads out their asses for anything to change in a positive direction and we all know it.
