WWE Failed Publicity Stunt

vince-mcmahonIn the past the WWE have garnered a lot of attention through its publicity stunts. Think back to Mike Tyson, the angle was booked perfectly and it really helped the WWE in the Monday Night Wars. In fact, I don’t think Vince put a foot wrong with Tyson’s involvement, if he did his product may not exist today.

Last week on Raw was an example of how Vince got it wrong in every aspect. Whenever the media mentions the WWE, Vince McMahon does all he can to exploit the situation. Last week’s Denver situation left Vince with a chance to grab the attention of an audience who may just want to tune in to see what the hell was going on. What they would have witnessed was a very petty man making ‘Enis’ remarks to a failed Stan Kroenke impersonator.

I have had enough of Rosie O'Donnell, Donald Trump, Ted Turner and any other crappy ten minute segments involving awful impersonators. Hardcore fans are forced to watch this garbage and people who may tune in to see what’s going on are likely to never tune in again.

It’s embarrassing….You go out to the local pub for a drink, the debate will start…Why do you like wrestling? You tell them why, you put up your arguments and tell them that it’s not all grown men stamping their feet on the ground while pretending to punch their opponent; you tell them it’s not a bunch gay men in tights running around groping each other; you tell them to tune in and watch it to see for themselves. I have had these debates countless times and I can honestly say, if these people tuned into that segment, I would be ashamed for telling them to do so.

Add to this the fact that last week’s main event was a match advertising a basketball game between The Lakers and The Nuggets that could be viewed on another station in the very arena the WWE were forced out of. Talk about a dumb move.

Vince sort it out…….Grow up!

That Vince-Kroenke segment was funny for all of the wrong reasons. It was the stupidest thing I have seen since McMahon’s Million Dollar Mania. Vince really needs to give up the impersonator skits of celebrities because they are embarrassing.

Everything about the Shockmaster is funny, nothing will ever top his debut for comic value.

King, dont forget about fat oily guy.

And you’re so right man. When I try to defend what I like, the critics crack jokes about some retardass gimmick what they saw the other night on Raw or TNA. However, when a quality match comes on (rarely) the critics have already changed the channel. It’s sad.

It is sad, us wrestling fans get looked upon like there is something wrong with us, like we are stupid and need to be reminded that wrestling is fake. I think the fans of today are far from stupid, in fact we know exactly what we want; the image of competition, the perormance of suffering by larger than life ‘god’ like characters, extreme perfomances of justice, the right to cheer for what we believe and the right to boo what we despise. We all know what we watch is fake, why do you think we get off chating ‘you fucked up’ and screwed up moves. . . . . . . WE KNOW ITS REHEARSED! We all know we are a lot smarter than we are given credit for. Its angles like these that keep the majority thinking that this niche audience are the dumb, under educated, riff raff of society…..

    Preach it brother!

  7. Society is stupid in general for believing any thing that they hear or assume. Say if a rumour spread that you had a fight with a couple who were obviously annoying in the first place, people will start believing it. Now is that really necessary?
