Wrestlemania In The UK

wrestlemania_22_01_470x353Ok this is the last you will hear of me moaning about the UK and what can be done to enhance our viewing pleasure of wrestling. I have been to America for the last six Wrestlemanias and every time I go I love the whole experience. The build up, the shows, the meets and greets, fan access and the chance to meet some die hard wrestling fans is quite the amazing experience. I think it’s about time that Vince bought Wrestlemania to the UK and gave my fellow countrymen the chance to experience it all on their home shore, I mean we can’t even get the world cup here, come on Vince save the morale of our nation. He has said he won’t bring it over because it has to air live in America. Surely they could start the event at 8 here and it would still air at 3 Eastern Time in the states.

The WWE brags about its 'Universe' and they bill them selves as World Wrestling Entertainment. If you ask me its false advertising, they are as American as Apple pie. They should come over here next April and be Rhubarb Custard for a night. They need to take Wrestlemania outside of the USA and Canada; we have had enough of house show tours and Raw tapings.

There would be no problems selling tickets, we have some huge stadiums and there is always a good atmosphere in the UK. I never see them doing it, the best we got was Summerslam and that was 17 years ago, they have not brought a big PPV back since.

  1. I would rather see WM be held in Japan.

I think that the major draw back for the WWE is the time diference with the PPV. The rely heavily on that one big show and I just don’t ever see them doing it.

The UFC holds PPV’s in the UK regularly though. I believe that they play them in the states on a time deley, but I might be wrong. It would be interesting to see the PPV numbers that the UFC does when they hold shows in the UK.

  3. The UFC does indeed time-delay shows when they film outside of the country. However, as people generally tune in to see the action instead of the result and swerves, spoilers aren’t as too large of an issue as seen in the wrestling scene.

If a ‘wardrobe malfunction’ or swear or anything unscripted happens, what’s to stop the WWE or TNA from editing the broadcast? There isn’t, and they likely would do something to the film between airing because they could.

So what you are all saying is that Americans would refuse to watch Wrestlemania at 3 Eastern? Thats bull!

I dont think they should go straight into mania, they should try it out with another summerslam to see how it goes then if it works schedule a mania for a few years later, I dont know if the attendance would be all that great mind, so it would really be a test of that, I guess wembley or the millenium stadium would be their best bet, but if it goes bad its a very expensive risk.

There are some great venues. Well I have been to the last 6 and everytime I go I meet hundreds of UK and Euro fans. I think they would have no problemS selling it out. The numbers for recent tours have been pretty good and we are talking about Wrestlemania. NFL leauge games here sell out in seconds. I dont think it’s an issue with ticket sales, Summerslam didn’t it. I agree with trying it our with someting else, maybe a Rumble……

I’m sure that the WWE would sell out any UK arena or stadium pretty quickly. Don’t forget that it wouldn’t be just the UK fans, as fans from just about any European country would make the trip due to the cheapness and ease of internal European travel these days.

The problem would be the time difference.
