Update On Kennedy WWE Release

kenkennedyThe early news of the "surprising" release of Ken Kennedy, is that he was fired for almost injuring the WWE Champion Randy Orton.

It is thought that Ken, who returned at last week’s Monday night Raw, re- injured his wrist in the 10 man tag match that served as this weeks main event. During the match an erratic move by Kennedy nearly re-injured Orton’s shoulder. It is thought that this angered WWE management and proved to be the straw that eventually broke the camels back. Orton and Kennedy had words after the show as Impactwrestling.com posted earlier today:

Kennedy made his return to RAW on Monday night after a ten month hiatus rehabbing a badly injured shoulder. As bad luck would have it, Kennedy ended up injuring his wrist after taking an RKO from Orton. Much more seriously in the eyes of management, Orton nearly re-injured his bad shoulder as a result of an errant manoeuvre on the part of Kennedy.

Kennedy has a history of being erratic in the ring, he has spent much of his WWE career on the sidelines.

His last appearance on Raw was his first in-ring match of the year. Within four minutes of his return he supposed to have had re-injured himself and nearly injured the Champion of Raw. Is there any wonder he was let go?

He has had chance after chance after chance in the WWE. I'm not to suprised that he was released, how are they ever going to build on his chracter if he is this injury prone? He won money in the bank and lost it to Edge because he got injured, he was supposed to be Vince's son and we all know what happened there, everytime he was pushed, including last week on Raw (talk of a title shot etc) his wreckless in-ring performances have left him injured, either that or he was jacking up on roids and serving suspensions. To be honest PWBites, I am glad to see the back of him.

There is a post on Kens website stating that he is 100 per cent healthy.

i still think this was a bad decision. the only chance he had to knock off the ring rust was a dark match in FCW. they should have given him more time to get ready. im sure he will end up back in WWE in a few years

  3. hellboy

    I’m not so sure Jsn/Justin
I agree with the post, he has had so many chances and has blew them all. Injuries are sometimes unlucky, but when you have as many as he has had in the short time he has been there you gotta start asking questions. I do not beleieve he is 100 per cent fit like his site was stating, you could see him in distress during the match. Who knows, maybe he will be back. It is not known about his release yet, he may have asked for it for all we know. All i know is that Kennedy will NEVER be a main eventer in the WWE regardless of a comeback. He has blown so many oppertunites and the King is right, how are they supposed to enhance his character? More time to get ready is a fair comment but I still feel it would be a matter of time beofre he screwed up again.

There are some good points on here. I still feel he has had his faie share of chances and thinking about it maybe his release was harsh. But there have been people released for far less, they dont have the ’star’ status that Kennedy has.

His drug test, two years ago (resulting in a 60 suspension,) should have seen him fired then, other people would have been. The WWE treat people, depending on where they are in the pecking order, differtently. The fact that Kennedy is a known clutz, a former roid user and pretty predictable on the mic, doesn’t make me feel sorry for his release. In fact they need to make examples of people who injure other wrestlers. I’m sure he will be back one day, until then, I wont miss him.

Mr Kennedy is great, when they let him do his own thing back when he was on Smackdown he had great fueds and matches with The Undertaker, Batista and Benoit he was one of the best things on that show. Then they moved him to Raw with those awful writers and that’s when the problems started. In 90 days he’ll show up in TNA and if they don’t fuck with him too much he will be a star there.

  6. The Original Nick

I wouldn’t say he was “great”, he was alright.

In ring he was average and if it wasn’t for his “Kennedy…Kennedy” bit, he would have never gotten over.

  7. Jsnwwf,
I think that Edge/Kennedy storyline is where Mr Kenny got creatively buried? Then he started to make stupid comments with fellow renegade Carlito.

Also considering the top man of WWE in recent times has been John Cena, Ken Kennedy’s ring abilities should have gotten him a more permanent position on the roster.

  8. “Also considering the top man of WWE in recent times has been John Cena, Ken Kennedy’s ring abilities should have gotten him a more permanent position on the roster.”

    THIS. Times a thousand.

And it wasn’t just “KENNEDY….KENEDDY” but that got him over. He really was a complete package.

Edge speared all charisma out of Kennedy when he lost the briefcase

Apparently, that’s the botch that led to Kennedy’s demise. One of a handful of reasons the E was down on him. But yeah, he should get more than just one dark match in FCW. Poor guy. Kind of. He was great for a span of 6, 7 months. Then injury, foot in mouth moment, nice little run again, injury, 2nd foot in mouth moment, and another injury.

    Ah well.

  10. Im going to make a “Rise and fall of Mr Kennedy” Week on VOTD because he had some really good moments and a GREAT 1st blood feud with undertaker. Undertaker doesnt just let anyone beat him.

  11. 313rd Perfectionist

………………So I guess my little crystal ball was correct about Kennedy’s future then huh?

  12. I could be wrong but Mr Kennedy was the last person to have a match with the Legendary Eddie Guerrero on SD? Also he was the last person to have a match with Chris Benoit on Raw.

  13. King_Benjamin

All I have to ask is…..was he really from Green Bay?

  14. Burke I think was the last to wrestle Benoit. He was in a 4 man tourney for the ECW title after Lashley was stripped(drafted to RAW)

CM Punk defeated Monty Brown and Benoit defeated Burke.

  15. I think he is from near there…..

  16. King_Benjamin

Yea Kennedy had the last match with Eddie….that alone proved a point, did you see how hard he hit Eddie with the chair?
Burke was the last man to wrestle Benoit on an ECW show.

  17. Jsnwwf and King_Benjamin,
    Cool

  18. King_Benjamin

Can anyone recall a Kennedy PPV match where you thougt………. bloody hell that was good?

  19. 1st of all…..

Undertaker vs Kennedy, Last Ride Match

2nd Morrrison just had his 1st one on one ppv match since his ECW title run so PPV matches doesnt say much now that its tri-branded and he was hurt A LOT.

  20. David

Good riddance. I can’t stand Kennedy, I used to like him when he debuted but he hasn’t improved on the mike or in the ring since his inital push and is a liability out of the ring because of his media gaffes, drug taking and constant injuries. He had several chances at being a main eventer in WWE and ruined them all so I don’t feel sorry for him in the least and I’m not suprised one bit that he has been released.

JSN, Kennedy can’t live off that one good match with Taker. I did enjoy it (although it is difficult to watch because of some idiotic fan yelling that Kennedy sucks all the way through) but to me that just shows how good Taker really is. Most of his matches with Batista were awful and anyone could have a good match with Benoit.

  21. hellboy

The Taker match was OK. He was injured a lot and most of the time it was his fault, form what I have heard he is pretty wreckless in the ring. It does show how good Taker is…Yes his Batista matches sucked…He has been over rated since he got there. I am so glad he has gone.

  22. hellboy

Also, Morrsion was in a tag team…thats why he aint had a one on one for a while (on ppv). You have to be able to wrestle if you are Ken’s size and you have to able to put a PPV run together…..

  23. Mr.K.

Orton just has way too much pull in the WWE. Going to be problems if that keeps going on.
Kennedy was cheated out of his job.

  24. King_Benjamin

    A post from JR’s Blog:

“Injuries have plagued the Wisconsin native for a good part of his career but as best I know Kennedy is 100 per cent as we speak.

“Without question, Kennedy has a definable upside and he will hopefully continue his journey in this biz and make his dreams become realities.

“Take it from me being released isn’t the end of the world and things in our lives have a way of working out for the best unless one throws in the towel and simply says ‘what the hell?’

“As I mentioned before, a change of scenery sometimes is what the doctor ordered.

“Hopefully this will work out for the best for all involved. For the record, I do not know why Kennedy was released and look at that matter as none of my business.”

jsnwwf has already posted a silent video that was added to Ken’s website earlier today, for those of you who are yet to see it, you can view it here:

  25. hellboy

Well that shut me up. His site was telling the truth Ken I’m sorry. I still think he is accident prone in the ring and the near injury to Orton was probably what got him fired. Classic video tho makes me kinda miss him already.

  26. DeathtotheSwiss

Ken had a lot of potential. He definitely needs to work on becoming a better wrestler but let’s be honest, who was the last awesome wrestler to come out of the WWE machine? I’m thinking Brock Lesnar…prove me wrong? And don’t say Batista.

  27. Wizard4it

    Hi all,

Brock Lesnar was OK, Batista is OK and Goldberg was ok. None of the big guys in wrestling over the past 8 to 10 years have ever really been WOW material, They are there to equal out the sides of good and evil, the faces and the heels. Seriously, how can you believe a little guy like Rey beating big guys. Its all for the thrills and spills. In saying that, I though Kennedy was pretty good, he did get annoying sometimes with that Mr Kennedy ………… Kennedy thing but that was part of his persona not what he may have chosen.

Apparantly, Mr Kennedy is just the tip of the iceberg in regards to the Randy Orton, I want them fired club, There are atleast another 2 wrestlers that he has approached the WWE with complaints against. The story here is Boys and Girls, Just how much power does Orton really have, We know That HHH has pull, We know that Shawn Michaels has pull ( mmmmm, where is he been lately ? ). I think it comes down to the wrestlers getting together behind the scenes, working out who is a threat, banding together and working out a way to get rid of them. Correct me if I am wrong, but when you watch the match and Kennedy drops Orton on the back, Orton actually twists so that the shoulder ( previously injured ) hits the deck first, then rolls out of the ring and starts yelling at him playing the you fucked up plot. This was a deliberate attempt that got rid of a possible star in the WWE, Thats all I have to say, HHH many many many years ago sent a guy to hospital and a wheelchair for a incorrect piledriver and he is still here.

  28. Kane

I see your point, but then again you know Vince is a bussinesman. So if someone can make him money, he sure as hell isn’t going to fire that guy. Look at Christian or even Chris Masters, they have all been fired/let go in the past but they are back in the WWE now.

It even looks like Kurt Angle is going to return to the WWE later this year, even after the stunt he pulled by asking for his release to heal up and then showing up in TNA, even after all the harsh words Kurt said about Vince and the WWE.

I’m not saying that HHH, HBK and Orton don’t have any pull, but I don’t think Vince Ok’s a release just because some top guys asked him to.
