This card should be pretty good, despite all of the injury problems beforehand. The upcoming UFC cards all sound better on paper and even Strikeforce’s next show looks amazing but I think many will be pleasantly suprised by the quality of this one. Anyway, my picks are:
    Kaplan (UD)
    Yoshida (TKO R1)
    Soszynski (TKO R2)
    Nover (Sub R2)
    Barry (TKO R1)
    Larson (TKO R2)
    Sherk (UD)
    Miller (Sub R2)
    Professor X (Sub R1)
    Serra (TKO R2)
    Evans (UD)

  2. Joe Morgan

Picks: Evans, Huges, Edgar The rest Im just watching.

  3. Joe Morgan

Edgar wins by three round decision

  4. Kanadian

    i got 10 on serra

  5. Joe Morgan

huges round 1, serra round 2

  6. Joe Morgan

sorry other way around serra 1, huges 2

  7. Joe Morgan

    The fight goes to Huges

  8. Joe Morgan

for the reccord I hate machida. With that said he is an awesome fighter Evans is also a fantastic fighter.

  9. Evans never goes 5 full rounds.

    That said, Let’s go Evans!

  10. Come on Rashad. Don’t lose to this guy. He listens to Linkin Park.

  11. Arron

    I wanted Lyoto to win.

    and thats what happened.

I don’t see a Light Heavyweight in the world that could beat him.

He might be the best champion in UFC history.

  12. That’s great and all.

But he listens to Linkin Park.

  13. Kanadian

linkin park owns — err, linkin park used to own. so im glad he won.

and fuckin serra, thanks a lot pal.

  14. You mean Linkin Sync, write 2 hits on a album and the rest is filler.

  15. Jeyrod

Machida won it! I am so happy he won it. The Light Heavyweight division is so stacked, and I think he is the best of the field. But I am excited to see him fight Rampage

  16. David

Wow my picks sucked, Machida was awesome. I was already a fan but couldn’t bet against Rashad but he smashed him and once again made a top fighter look foolish. Lyoto is a deserving champion and will be the first guy since Chuck to dominate the LHW division. I wouldn’t be suprised if he goes on to retire as the champ because I don’t see anyone beating him. If Rashad couldn’t deal with his elusiveness and defend his strikes then I don’t think anyone else has a hope. Lyoto-Rampage will be awesome but I don’t like Quinton’s chances.

Frankie Edgar was really impressive, he completely dominated Sherk standing and even stuffed his takedowns. I’ve always liked Edgar but i thought that this fight would be a mix of Sherk-Griffin and Maynard-Edgar where the two start off brawling before Sherk used his wrestling and strength to repeatedly take Frankie down. Instead he kept the fight standing for the first 2 rounds to his cost and by then it was too late as Frankie outclassed Sherk in the striking and by the time he went for the takedowns it was too late. Edgar has to be a top contender now.

Hughes-Serra wasn’t a great fight but I think that Hughes did just enough to pull off the decision. Serra did the most damage in Rs 1 and 3 but Hughes controlled the action for the majority of the fight and deserved the win. Hughes will probabaly be inducted into the HoF with Chuck at 100 and will either announce a fight with a top contender e.g. Koscheck or will retire with Chuck.

  17. Anyone else sad that Newcastle relegated today out of the EPL?

  18. Kanadian

i dont know what linkin park albums you’re listening to, but hybrid theory, reanimation and meteora are all great all the way through.

  19. Not really considering they are a made for tv/charts band and songs sound all the same. And that Jay Z collaboration is bloody annoying to, how many more times will we have to listen to Chester sing “What are we going to do” or whatever that crap is.

Also you do know that there label makes sure that they stay in the mainstream?

I suggest you listen to this band:

Pole Foam, I’m disgusted. I knew we were doomed when Ashley didn’t sell, his indecisiveness has cost us, instead of acting he let us rot when Kinnear got sick and allowed us to get dragged down to the drop. Ultimately Shearer wasn’t good enough, 5 points in 8 games is an awful record. Villa were in awful form and Hull, Boro and the Mackems all lost so we should have saved ourselves, instead we go down with a wimper and I don’t see how we are going to come back up next year. Lowest moment in football for me.

  21. The Original Nick

Nothings better than Pearl Jam for me

  22. >i dont know what linkin park albums you’re listening to, but hybrid theory, reanimation and meteora are all great all the way through.

What is this i dont even…

    You’re defending Linkin Park?

  23. Kane

I’m not sure about calling Reanimation great all the way, but Kanadian you’re absolutly right about Hybrid Theory and Meteora.

  24. The Original Nick

    Linkin Park sucks

  25. David,
Mike Ashley should of never even been sold the club. Freddy Shepard was a million times better and he splashed the cash. As you pointed out Shearer was just not experienced enough for a situation like this. Someone like Roy Keane would of been much better and the team would have been the safe 2 months ago.

Hope your team returns to the Premiership straight away as it just wont be the same.

    Original Nick,
    Pearl Jam are indeed great.

  26. David

Pole Foam, Shepherd spent too much money that he didn’t have on champagne players like Michael Owen and on his own salary. The club was mismanaged so badly that by the time that the Shepherds and the Halls sold their shares to the clueless crook Ashley we were left in millions of debt and on the verge of collapse. Ashley didn’t even do due diligence as we were just an impulse purchase so we were left with a guy who didn’t want to spend much money owning a club with a huge wage bill in a serious amount of debt and a manager who got a fraction of the money that he was promised by Shepherd. I blame each person involved in the running of Newcastle United during the last 10 years equally for our relegation.

It’s a sad state of affairs and our only hope is that Ashley makes a decision on the next manager quickly and sticks with his choice, backing him with money so we can buy some decent hardworking players and keep the quality whilst getting rid of the deadwood and cut the wage bill without losing all of our players. If we don’t go straight back up, we could be joining the likes of Leeds, Norwich, Southampton and Charlton in League One.

As for Shearer, he was too little too late. I don’t blame him but he obviously didn’t do a good job as we would have only needed 2 wins from 8 to survive. Keane was dreadful at Sunderland, he wasted loads of money on the likes of David Healy, Craig Gordon and El-Hadji Diouf and left the Mackems in the lurch. If it wasn’t for their good run under Sbragia once he took over, they’d be in a worse state than us.

I wouldn’t mind someone like Curbishley at this point, as we need someone with managerial experience in both the EPL and the Championship as well as someone who can get the best out of his players and make smart buys. If only we’d have decided on a new manager as quickly as the likes of Spurs and West Ham, we’d be at least mid-table instead of being down a division.

  27. Kanadian

Pearl Jam is my all time favourite band, but I’ve always liked Linkin Park, less the latest album which I did not care for.

  28. The Original Nick

Except for the Linkin Park thing, Kanadian has good taste in music

  29. The fact that he likes LP disrupts and negates any other good music he listens to.

  30. Kanadian

I’m down with most alt rock between 1990 (1984, if out of Seattle) to present; some metal, punk, pop-punk, ska punk; anything thats not too Coldplay. Most anything pre-grunge though is not for me. I can go for some Floyd or Bowie occasionally, but not much else.

    So there you go.

  31. You still spoke up for LP. Negates anything else you listen to.

  32. Kanadian

yeah, linkin park’s a whole lot worse than those real rock bands like kiss and guns ‘n’ roses and metallica and ac/dc..

  33. Kanadian,
“those real rock bands like kiss and guns ‘n’ roses and metallica and ac/dc”

You are shitting on Rock n Roll legends (minus a bit Kiss as they are to cheesy) for some boyband rock bands who are not really alternative to begin with. Do you really feel John Lydon would play a Linkin Park record, the guy who brought alternative to the forefront? He would wipe his arse with the Meteora album. Or Jim Morrison would even consider good old Chester Bennington as frontman?
