TNA WWE Monday Night Wars

wwe_vs_tnaOk PWBites, let the wars begin…..

Hogan has announced that he will make his TNA debut on 3 hour Impact taping that will be aired on Monday January 4th, directly opposing WWE’s Monday Night Raw.

It is not yet known if the move will be full time, assuming it is it’s a bold move by TNA as this could literally make or break them. Going up against the biggest wrestling company in the world must mean that TNA have every faith in their product. If they were to successfully compete with the WWE, they would need to bring something different to the dance. They are not going to be able to compete with the WWE ‘s big budget production and of course TNA shows are tapped and not live (a part of their cost cutting policies that I believe is crippling the companies potential) but it’s obvious that TNA can compete on a number of other levels.

The good news is that a majority of TNA’s matches have been very good as of late, but with the clear lack of the ‘big stage’ feel, TNA would have to concentrate on making its X Division as credible as it was in the company’s early days. W
We all know that the Monday Night Wars brought the best out of the WWE product, since Vince bought all his competition wrestling fans have been waiting for a company to push them into creating more consistent programming.

Can TNA push the WWE in the same ways that WCW did in the late 90’s? Right now probably not, but this move is a statement of TNA’s intent and for anyone who doubts that Hogan summed it up telling UFC colour commentator Joe Rogan that “TNA is planning on going to War with the WWE”.

Too soon TNA needs to be better or this will all end in tears

  2. Predictions for that night:
-Either the Rock or Austin guest hosts-Mr. Kennedy, RVD, Jeff Jarrett, Eric Bischoff appear on iMPACT-Bobby Lashley turns heel, with Kristal as Manager

  3. Its gonna be damn intresting whatever happens, personally I think TNA have to really concentrate on thier home grown talent. Let the Angles RVD’s and Jarretts of the wolrd put bums in seats in front of the TV, but let the Guns, Lethal, Daniels, Styles etc etc steal the show. This is the way it will have to be if they are to really keep that Monday night slot. I also think they will need to screw thier cost cutting ways and maybe chance a few live iMpacts….

  4. Remember when Raw moved to Thursday on Sci-Fi becuase of the dog show? They destroyed Impact on TNA’s regular night… If they can destroy Impact on a Thursday, what do you think is going to happen on a Monday?

Any fool knows that competition brings out the best in people. Eg. WWE Creative. As far as Hogan is concerned any publicity be it good or bad is just that publicity. While Bischoff is not at the helm I expect that like his and hogans wwe debut/return although kayfabe will grab TNA by the throat and shake it to its foundation!

RAW has turned into some stupid kind of realty show with its stupid guest host and the stupid story lines i personally am glad to see TNA going head to head against a company who as not only forgot what it is like to have competition but has also forgot what it takes to keep people interested in there show. RAW has gotten so boring that i look forward to watching smack down now. i can only hope that TNA makes WWE a company worth watching again. I will not watch RAW again until they stop this stupid loser guest host theme they got going on.

In one night Hulk Hogan severely damaged the integrity of TNA and completely destroyed the last shred of his own credibility. His idea of “change” is to rehash old story lines and bring in washed up wrestlers? What a joke. What’s worse is he had to taint what was perhaps the most impressive match in TNA wrestling history between Angle & Styles by coming out and running his mouth once more. Watching Hogan work himself into the story lines is even worse than old man McMahon parade around like the ultimate villain. What a shame that professional wrestling companies have such little respect for their fans that they simply give us the same material over and over rather than take a risk to provide something genuinely new or exciting. Mark my words, it is only a matter of time before Hogan completely ruins TNA. Only this time, WWE may not be interested in picking up the pieces.
