TNA Bringing In Reality Show Star For Slammiversary?

51317077Good news for all you fans of MTV's "The Hills" and by that I mean bad news for all you TNA wrestling fans. Word on this street is Spencer Pratt who is apparently one of the stars of "The Hills"(a MTV reality show that focuses on the trials and tribulations of young, rich, white people) is in talks with TNA about being apart of some kind of storyline. TNA tool announcer Jeremy Borash confirmed these negotiations via his official twitter account by saying "A possible Slammiversary involvement could be in the works".

I don't know much about "The Hills"(probably because I'm over the age of 16 and don't have a vagina) but from what I understand Spencer Pratt and his wife Heidi Montagare generally regarded as a media whores who would do pretty much anything for attention. I guess one could make the argument that "The Hills" is a highly rated cable TV show that could bring TNA some much needed notoriety. Of course the counter argument is though "The Hills" is a very popular show their base audience of pre-teengirls is almost the polar opposite of the audience of 16 to 35-year-old men TNA is seeking. So it's highly unlikely that someone who's well versed in "The Hills" will become a new fan of TNA because of this gimmick. This is something TNA management should know because it's almost the exact same reason Smackdown is no longer on The CW. Sure WWE pulled some of the biggest ratings on that network but the show didn't fit in with the demographic that The CW was looking for so they axed it.

Like it or not as audiences become more fragmented because of all of the options viewers now have these types of things are and will continue to be apart of today's wrestling industry. The WWE has done stuff like this in the past with people like K-Fed and most recently with MVP and View co-host Sheri Shepherd but there are differences between what WWE does and what TNA does. First WWE seems to know what stars to pick and when to pick them. The K-Fed/Cena feud happened at the height of K-Fed's "popularity" and The View is still one of the most watched shows on daytime TV so in both cases it was a good promotional move to attach the WWE brand to those people. TNA on the other hand picks "stars" like Danny Bonaduce and Spencer Pratt who may have some name recognition but don't carry a lot of weight when it comes to fandom. Also outside of WrestleMania the WWE rarley puts these types of things on PPV they know that to get the most attention these stories are best left on free TV as to not give hardcore fans a reason not to buy a PPV. And while these storylines for the most part are no more or less well excecuted then TNA's attempts because of how WWE goes about it they do get the intended result which is main stream media attention.

In closing, I really don't want to be too hard on TNA because they're trying to play a game that Vince McMahon pretty much invented(or at least mastered) but if they continue down this path they will only manage to alienate there current fan base while simultaneously looking like a joke to the main stream media.

Awful, this guy and his reality show represent everything wrong with celebrity pop culture. Very few wrestling fans watch this show so who do TNA expect are going to buy their PPVs to see this loser? At least WWE bring in people relevant to wrestling e.g. Mickey Rourke, the star of The Wrestler for their PPVs, not some awful reality star popular with tweener girls.

TNA = a hot girl you took home with you one night and had drunken sex with only to wake up the next morning to really see she was 450lb amputee with a glass eye and teeth so bad it look like 9-11 happend in her mouth.

TNA YOU CAN’T GET ANY DUMBER. JUST DIE ALREADY!

I think I have seen this show. I told my younger sister that she wasn’t allowed to watch it.

Davis brought up a good point: what the hell does he have to do with wrestling, and why do the TNS management seem to think that TNA fans will be entertained by him. I swear that Dixie Carter & Jeff Jarrett are some of the biggest marks out there.

being called a reality show star doesn’t make them a star. Calling someone a reality show star is like calling someone a tectonic plate research star. neither would draw for wrestling.
