PWB Is Back In Buisness

open_for_buisnessA million apologies for the unexpected downtime. I could write a book about the issues I have had over the last few days (well, maybe not a book, but definitely a large leaflet). Basically, once it is all said and done, I re-installed a brand new blog where PWB should be.

You will have to re-register

There is nothing that I can do about this. I have tried my hardest to keep all the registrations open for PWBites but there was just no way for me to do it. So re-register in your normal PWBite name.

All the posts over the last two weeks (45 of them) have gone into the cyber graveyard in the skies. The quality of posts as a whole was pretty f'in good. As a small group of writers on a blog, we write some damm good content. Lex said that the PWBites would help me out a lot with version 5.0, but I was amazed at some of the writing. We really showed them what a group of mark wrestling and MMA fans can do. Please keep the content coming. If you want to post then just use the contact form at the top of the site and shoot me an email.

We need some posts right now to fill the spaces in the home page so re-register and get writing!

Once again sorry to all the PWBites for the disruption on the site since version 4.0, especially the writers, Regular readers and commenters, and Lex. This is all.... finally... fixed (damm, I just cursed it).

Guess this is PWB v 5.1

  2. The Gooser

    Or 5.0.1

  3. Arron

    Totally understandable, Gooser.

I knew the wait would be worth it.

Hey Gooser, Glad your back up. As soon as I have my eye taken care of I will get right on what we discussed. I look forward to a comback….it’s been a long time in coming.

i hate to be the one to have to say this, but i think it should be said. maybe its just me, i doubt it is, and i certainly doubt it will be if some of the frequent visitors and longtime friends of PWB consider it, but i dont think this format is working at all. by no means do i want this to be a personal attack, but the blog is really hurting with this over-organized, crowded design. there are so many different sections and discussions and lists and stories that are featured, and then a set of sub headings that load the already featured stories and more. I know just days ago i was interested in writing on the blog, but it really doesn’t seem worth it the way things are now. i just feel like the life has been sucked out of PWB by a flashy new design that gave PWB an absolutely unnecessary overcomplicated “revamp”.

again, i dont mean it as a personal attack, i would just love to see PWB go back to a format that at least somewhat resembles what made PWB good. or id at least like to hear if im the only one that feals this way.

    Kanadian –

I moved the comment from the Smackdown post to here as this post is more for the site feedback. Hopefully some PWBites will give their thoughts.

I agree with kanadian. I click on a topic to respond, only to find that I’ve clicked on something else because the main headline keeps changing. Less is more sometimes. A wise man once said KISS–Keep It Simple Stupid.

  8. The Gooser

I don’t get what you mean about the headline changing.

  9. I am wondering where the other PWBites are

Is LEX not even going to post now?

This site is so simple to use you would have to be a monkey on a typewriter not to get it. I think it’s looking great, there is so much more variety, we are not just limited to one topic per day and thats what makes V5 better than previous versions. I don’t understand what you mean about the headlines changing. I guess you would have to click on one at the exact same time that someone put a new post up for that to happen.

its not as good because there is way too much variety. PWB was great because there were 2 or three posts that we would have to debate about in depth and all together for a day or two, longer if it was paticularly thought/opinion provoking, and then we moved on. now there are like 12 different posts about a bunch of different things, all of them little condensed headlines that you have to sort through and click on to read. now its like ewrestlingnews times opinion, there is a bunch options, most of which dont look paticularly interesting, and so i dont take the time to load the page to read them.

the point is, like dynamite said, less is more. PWB should go back to having a traditional scroll down blog style without subheadings or all that junk; just a few posts that you can read all or most of all on the home page.

  12. i disagree

there is a RECENT TOPICS section on the right side of the home page

  13. Kanadian

a section i had not seen in my multiple daily visits to the site, and also a section of headlines that dont really tell anything about the post, and nothing about whether it is opinion, news reporting or discussion, or the author of the post; all of which should be available, most of it through being able to read or skim through it.

i dont mean to be saying that the blog is terrible now, but to me it is not working nearly as well as the old blog did for so long; why change a good thing? i’ll be very happy if one day soon i come to the site and it looks like a blog again.

  14. Kanadian

see, even this thread has died because no one sees it.

  15. The Gooser

Kanadian – we are singing from the same hymm book here brother.

If the posts were listed in a single colum blog style way, then this post would have died because it would have buried under more recent posts. At the time you wrote that, the thread it is still linked on the home page.

You say that you would like it as a single colum format with newer posts having precident over older posts, but the next comment you are pointing out that “the thread is dead”.

The whole idea of the new site layout is so that posts will “stay alive” much longer.
