Dana White:”Fedor Would Fight Brock First”

Dana White has said in a recent interview that if the UFC were to sign Fedor Emelianenko, then he would give him a shot at the title straight away.

“My job is to put on the best fighters and to give you, the fans, the fights you want to see. I’ve been trying to get Fedor in the UFC. I want it because you want it. Believe me, I’m trying to make it happen. He’ll fight for the title first. What does he need, a tune-up fight or something? … To argue where this guy sits in the heavyweight division, we can argue that all day. Fedor has a ton of experience. The guy’s been around forever. But you can’t take anything away from Brock Lesnar … It’s an interesting fight. It’s a very good fight. Fedor’s got to come to a deal first. If Randy can go out there and cut that deal with Fedor, then Randy, get to work, buddy.”

Well there has been a lot of talk about Fedor lately from the UFC. You couldn't blame Fedor for taking some huge paydays by not signing for the UFC. His last two paydays for Affliction earned him a total of $600,000, while Brock Lesnars last opponent Frank Mir, earned just $40,000 for the fight. However, with the demise of Affliction last week as MMA promoters, it is unknown if Fedor can get another huge payday else where.

I think that Dana white is right to want to put Fedor straight into a title fight. He got burnt when Cro-cop came into the UFC and took a head kick from hell from Gabriel Gonzaga. All the big money fights that they could have built up to slipped through the UFC's hands. They won't make the same mistake with Fedor.

Nobody in the UFC is going to be beating Lesnar anytime soon. There was only two men whose style of fighting could have challenged Lesnars pure wrestling ability and strength; they were Couture and Mir. In my mind the heavyweight title is tied up with Lesnar until they sign Fedor. Then we really do have a fight on our hands.
